Faustino Conde, a revered luthier and member of the esteemed Conde guitar-making family, made significant contributions to the world of classical and flamenco guitar. In the 1960s, while his brothers Mariano and Julio had opened their own shops, Faustino remained at the original Gravina shop. It was during the 1970s that he crafted the iconic guitar famously played by Paco de Lucía, solidifying his reputation as a master luthier. Faustino's instruments are celebrated for their exceptional craftsmanship and exquisite tonal qualities, ensuring his legacy as one of the foremost guitar makers of his time. This guitar made in 1970 is, although signed, Conde Hermanos, the signature they all used for bandiing purposes, would have been made by Faustino.
This guitar offers a quintessential flamenco sound characterized by clarity and percussive attack. The cedar top gives it a little more sustain and a darker, richer, and more complex tonality than spruce, but it retains all the punch, power, and growl that one wants in a flamenco guitar. It also has the dynamic range to produce both the subtle nuances and powerful accents that are integral to traditional flamenco.
This guitar is structually in excellent shape. There no cracks nor history of repairs. It does have the usual wear and tear of a 1970 guitar, so the finish shows minor wear and has some scratches.
