The Spanish luthier Antonio Raya Pardo was born in 1950 in Huelva (Jaen), but his family moved to Granada when he was ten. like so many of guitar makers of his generation, he apprenticed with Eduardo Ferrer for a short time, and then continued his training Jose Lopez Bellido, but also acknowledges the advice he received from Antonio Marin Montero. He opened his own shop in 1972, where he now works with his son Antonio Raya Ferrer, although each building under their own names. His guitars are not only powerful, responsive, and easy to play like the Granada School instruments, but project well. Antonio is the youngest of the five living Spanish makers Summerfield includes in his list of the finest classical guitar makers since 1800. He is also among the few luthiers to whom Luis F. Leal Pinar devotes an entire chapter in "Guitarreros de Andalucia" (2004). Bringing more than 40 years of experience, this flemanco negra, number 608 in his obra, is a gem. It is in near perfect condition, with the exception of a tiny string burn near the 1st string.· The owner needs cash and must sell this guitar, and so has drastically cut his asking price.
