Santos Hernandez (1873-1943) stood as the preeminent guitar maker of his era. During his tenure with Manuel Ramirez, he crafted the renowned 1912 Ramirez guitar that Segovia cherished for a quarter-century. Notably, his flamenco guitars garnered even greater appeal among accomplished flamenco guitarists, holding an enduring allure for collectors.
Alberto has masterfully encapsulated the essence of Santos Hernandez's flamenco guitar legacy. The Santos Hernandez model he has created resonates with a vibrant, crystalline, and commanding resonance, enriched by resonant harmonics that infuse its tonal profile with depth and intricacy. Its trebles exhibit a responsiveness that is keen, incisive, and distinct, while the mid-range exudes a warm embrace, and the bass notes maintain a resolute presence. The guitar's attack is swift and reactive, reflecting its expressively dynamic nature and offering a diverse palette of tonal shades. Enhanced by a distinctly flamenco setup, this guitar assures utmost comfort, rendering it an absolute delight to play.
Juan Hernandez Guitars was established by Juan Hernandez Iranzo. Born in 1948, Juan apprenticed in the Francisco Esteve workshop at the age of 15, eventually becoming a certified guitar maker and ascending to the position of production manager. In 2001, he established his personal workshop under the Esteve banner, crafting his own line of handcrafted classical and flamenco guitars. Following in his father's footsteps, Alberto Hernandez Monfort (born in 1979) began his apprenticeship at Esteve in 1994, swiftly achieving certification and joining his father's workshop. When Juan Hernandez stepped down, Alberto assumed the role of production manager at Esteve and became the head luthier of Juan Hernandez Guitars, personally crafting models that bear his signature.
