The luthier Manuel de Soto y Solares shared a close professional association with Antonio de Torres during their time in Sevilla. Their workshops were conveniently located just a few doors apart on Calle Cerragería. When Torres decided to step back from guitar making and moved to Almería in 1870, those seeking guitars crafted in Torres' distinctive style turned to Manuel de Soto y Solares, who carried on the tradition with great skill.

Soto y Solares developed an esteemed clientele, including the legendary flamenco singer Juan Breva (1844–1918), who is known to have favored a guitar by Soto y Solares made between 1870 and 1890. Francisco Tárrega, a towering figure in classical guitar, was another prominent patron. Tárrega held Soto y Solares' work in high regard, even gifting two of these exceptional guitars to close friends as tokens of appreciation.

The restoration of this guitar was masterfully undertaken by Andrés Domínguez Guerrero, whose meticulous craftsmanship brought the instrument back to its original glory. As Eduardo aptly remarked, "This guitar is a fantastic instrument and my personal favorite among Soto y Solares' creations." This statement underscores the guitar’s exceptional quality and the enduring legacy of Manuel de Soto y Solares as one of Sevilla’s most notable luthiers.
