The luthier Manuel Soto y Solares enjoyed a close association with Antonio de Torres during their shared time in Sevilla. Their workshops were conveniently located only a few doors apart on Calle Cerrageria. When Torres decided to take a step back from his craft and relocated to Almeria in 1870, those seeking the distinctive Torres style of guitar turned to Manuel de Soto y Solares.
Soto y Solares garnered a significant clientele, including the renowned Juan Breva (1844-1918), who is documented to have favored a Manuel de Soto y Solares guitar crafted between 1870 and 1890. Francisco Tárrega, an influential figure in the world of classical guitar, also patronized Soto y Solares. Notably, Tárrega gifted two of these exceptional guitars to his close friends.
The exceptional restoration of this guitar was entrusted to Andres Dominguez Guerrero. As Eduardo aptly observed, "This guitar is a fantastic instrument and my personal favorite among Soto Y Solares' creations."
