The Spanish luthier Aaron Garcia Ruiz was born 1965 in Granada. He is also musicologist and professor at the University of Granada. Aaron apprenticed with Manuel Fernandez Fernandez (1930-1997), working with this master luthier until his death in 1997, he then continued his training with Manuel's son, Jose Manuel Fernandez Enriquez till 2005. We began buying his guitars in 2007. In May of 2017, while visiting Granada, we attended an exhibit featuring Granada School makers. On display was this 2014 Concert Classical Guitar that Aaron built for this exhibition using his best woods, including spectacular "Church door" Cocobolo rosewood, and an heirloom German spruce top of a quality that is simply not available commercially, that probably came from the wood of an estate of another maker that he purchased, and fitted with Klaus Scheller tuning machines, (the legitimate successor to Landstorfer, the brand that Hermann Hauser used on his guitars) of the highest quality. I asked him if it would sell it, and he agreed that once the Exhibition ended he would, it then took several months to acquire the necessary CITES permits. In short, despite its being make in 2014, it is a new guitar. This guitar is typical of his fine work-- being beautifully made. It has a very refined tone, and possess a rich and powerful voice. The basses are full with nice tonal complexity. It has an excellent mid-range, and the trebles are crystal clear so that its sings even in the highest register.
