In 1962 Manuel Contreras I (1928-1994) open his own workshop. Initially his fame rested on the fact that he was craftsman in the Jose Ramirez III shop that made the first guitar that Andrés Segovia bought from Jose Ramirez III in 1960. Building under his own name he earned a reputation as one of the finest and most innovative luthiers in Spain, a tradition that his son, Manuel Contreras II (1957-2011) continued until his death. 

This 1a Especial concert classical guitar was made by Manuel Contreras II. It has been well cared for, and aside from some on some light light scratches in its finish, and a string burn on the treble side of the bride. The guitar is set up well, and easy and and comfortable to play. This guitar is priced to sell.
