This guitar was made in the workshop Miguel Rodriguez Beneyto (1888-1976), the founder of one the most renowned families of Spanish guitar builders of the 20th century, whose son’s and grandson’s guitars are equally prized. When it was made, Miguel Rodriguez Sr. worked with his son, Miguel Rodriguez Jr (1921-1998), and his grandson, Jose (Pepe) Rodriguez (1941-1996). The present owner bought it directly from Miguel Rodriguez Sr. When he went into the shop, Miguel Sr, told him that he had no guitars at the moment, but that his grandson Pepe was making two guitars which were nearly finished for a client in Brazil, who was unable to pay for them at that moment, and so he could have his choice of which of the two he wanted.
This flamenca negra is excellent shape structurally, and has had no repairs, nor are any needed, and the action remains perfect for flamenco. As it has been used as flamenco guitar, the finish shows some player wear on the top near the fingerboard, and there are some minor dings on the top.
This is a guitar that I am tempted to buy, but have too many guitars already.
