Telesforo Bavel Julve Jordán (1884-1945) was born in Villarroya de los Pinares, Teruel. His parents were weavers, but his uncle Andres Marín was a guitar maker, and so when he was about 14, he was sent to apprentice with his uncle. He worked there until 1909, when he set up his own shop in partnership with Francisco Armengol Barrera and Francisco Lloréns. By 1917, this partnership dissolved, and the company name changed to Telesforo Julve. The company quickly grew into a major manufacturer of guitars and component parts. Many well known guitar makers in Spain bought guitars or components from Julve, he also sold exported many guitars to Latin America During the Spanish Civil War, Julve went into exile in Mexico. Returning to Spain just before World War II, the war years were likewise hard. Upon his death in 1945, his sons Telesforo and Juan took over, and continued doing business till 1974. We know from the address and phone number that guitar dates from the period 1934-1944, and given what was going on probably was made circa 1935. Apart from some minor dings on the top the guitar is in excellent condition. The guitar has been recently re-fretted.
