This guitar by Felipe Conde Crespo (b. 1991) shows that he measures up to Conde dynasty's reputation for making the finest flamenco guitars. The Conde trace their linage to Domingo Esteso (1882-1937), who trained his nephew Faustino Conde (b. 1913-1988). Faustino in turn taught his brother’s Mariano (1916-1989) and Julio (1918-1995) and, the three brothers became the Conde Hermanos. Mariano had two sons, Felipe (b.1957) and Mariano Jr. (b. 1959) who he trained, so that when he died they became the Hermanos Conde. Felipe Conde in turn has trained his son, Felipe Conde Crespo. Felipe Jr while pursuing his education began working with his father part-time from the age of 16. In the summer of 2012, having decided to become a luthier, he began his apprenticeship with his father. After graduating with a degree in Sociology in 2015, he went to work full-time with his father. Aside from his exceptionally clean artisanal work, this guitar esthetics speak to its quality. Lightly built, it offer a vibrant sound and depth of tone that makes it feel alive in the players hands. The trebles are sing enchantingly, the basses are full. It has power, presences, and growls when asked. The set up is what one would expect from well-made flamenco guitar. It is planetary pegs which are function like machine turners, offering both the traditional look of wooden pegs, and the easy and accuracy of machine tuners.
