This 1962 Jose Ramirez III was made by Antonio Martinez Ortega (A.M), one of the finest craftsmen working for Ramirez during the golden years of the early 1960s, when the workshop included luthiers such as Paulino Bernabe, Manuel Contreras, Felix Manzanero, Alfonso Benito, among others.  Antonio Martinez worked for Ramirez from about 1959 to 1971.  It appears that he never made guitars under his own label, but built approximately 450 guitars during the time he worked for Ramirez. Because he guitars were used by Andres Segovia, Laurindo Almeida, and Christopher Parkening his guitars are highly prized, and very collectable. Using wonderful old rosewood that the luthier Brian Dunn provided, Roger Sperline has restored this guitar, fixed assorted cracks, and refreshed its French polish. It is one of the best sounding Ramirez guitars I have ever played.
